“A week in the company of writers in a stunning ‘belle epoque’ mansion located in Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, in the Provence-Cote d’Azur region. Our group of writers will be limited to 8, a nice and intimate number. We’ll meet each day in one of the mansion’s many cozy rooms, or poolside, or on a veranda overlooking the sea. There, we’ll do fun and generative exercises, craft talks tailored to the writers’ specific goals and identified areas of focus and development, and we’ll discuss each participant’s individual work in a collaborative, supportive and inclusive setting. The writers will share their work and gather personalized, curated feedback. Each writer will also get a 1 hour one- on-one session with me for discussions, strategies and guidance/encouragement. Of course, the day will be filled with ample time to write and reflect in an extraordinary destination-vacation setting.” David Rocklin
David Rocklin is the author of the novels The Luminist and Foreward award-winning The Night Language. His new novel, The Electric Love Song Of Fleischl Berger, will be published in May 2024. He is also the author of The Write Formula, a comprehensive craft book offering guidance, inspiration and practical advice on all aspects of fiction writing, including the generation and expansion of ideas, character and plot structure, setting and POV choices, outlining and revision strategy, and navigating criticism and rejection. David’s Los Angeles – based reading series, Roar Shack, is one of the city’s longest running and is considered an inclusive hub within the L.A. literary community. David has led workshops, spoken on panels, been interviewed in numerous publications, and he’s looking forward to buying your book!
David’s retreat includes authentic French meals, scheduled dining out (alcohol not included), a scheduled perfume tour & atelier experience, local transport and single-room accommodations.
